Hexagram Rituals and New Aeonics Pt. 2 … Cleaning Up My Error

NOTE: Posted April 23, 2026, as backdated content from a draft created on post date.

I think the confusion here comes from trying to make one layer of the system compensate for a change in another layer that was never meant to propagate that far.

What actually shifts in Crowley’s work—particularly between The Vision and the Voice and The Book of Thoth—is the symbolic identity of the Kerubim, not the underlying elemental or zodiacal framework.

The mistake (and it’s an easy one to make) is assuming that because the Kerubic emblems associated with Scorpio and Aquarius are reinterpreted, the elements or zodiacal order must also be adjusted to maintain symmetry. That’s the move that causes everything to unravel.

The zodiac itself remains exactly as it is:

Fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
Earth: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Air: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Water: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

No amount of Tzaddi–Heh reshuffling in the Tarot is going to change that, because that switch operates within the symbolic logic of the Trumps, not at the level of elemental attribution.

Where things do change is in the Kerubic layer.

Traditionally:

* Scorpio → Eagle
* Aquarius → Man

But in The Vision and the Voice, Crowley explicitly reframes this:

* Scorpio becomes aligned with the Scarlet Woman / Serpent current
* Aquarius takes on the Eagle

And he doubles down on that symbolism later.

So the corrected attribution looks like:

East — Leo — Fire — Lion
South — Taurus — Earth — Bull
West — Aquarius — Air — Eagle
North — Scorpio — Water — Scarlet Woman

And that’s it. Nothing else needs to move.

The issue came from trying to “fix” the perceived imbalance by reassigning elements to signs. That step quietly breaks the entire elemental structure of the zodiac, which is why everything downstream starts to feel unstable and increasingly contrived.

In other words, the system isn’t broken—I just changed too many variables at once.

The clean way to look at it is:

* Zodiac = fixed spatial framework
* Elements = fixed energetic structure
* Kerubs = symbolic expressions that can shift with doctrinal context

Crowley is updating the symbolism to reflect Thelemic currents, not rewriting the mechanics of the cosmos.
