So, Kess and I have been looking at buying a house. We've got a good idea of what we want, and what we want do do with a house, and even what we want that house to do for us and for our Family of Choice. We've even found a Place that we are considering to be a damn strong candidate...
... It's a 3 unit property on 75 Acres, with a barn. It was a horse property back in its heyday, built in the 1840's, but significantly updated. It's got a gorgeous interior, and is absolutely fantastic looking from the photos.
As usual, there are some complications to the situation. It's out of our price range if we do this on our own. So, Kess has some friends who are also jewelers and we've been talking to them about buying the property with an eye to forming a light-weight intentional community, in order to foster all our goals.
One one hand, our group wants to have a permanent place to run the jewelry business from, and on the other, It's an opportunity for myself and a couple of close friends to create a massive Pagan Space. We're looking at this with an eye to essentially creating our very own little Autonomous Zone, in which we can live as we generally please, and help to build the community and life-space that we believe in: neophilic, free, and spiritually and intellectually healthy.
There are a lot of practical matters that will need to be addressed and researched along with this, and Kess has been picking up the ball with it beautifully. If this is going to happen, it's going to happen on her dime, at least up front. I love her to death, and I really want this to happen for her. She's worked damn hard to keep us together, and I owe her some time to follow her dreams, instead of merely surviving.
I've been thinking very hard for some years about what I wanted to do in this life, and I kept coming back to two essential axioms to guide me.
The first is personal and practical: "Do What thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Love is the Law, Love under Will."
The second is Callahan's Law. "Shared pain is lessened; shared joy, increased — thus do we refute entropy."
Folks, here's the deal as I see it: Mike went home, Doc's gone, and Jake and the gang have moved to Key West. They lived in a parallel fiction, at any rate, and communication has been thin of late.
It is my Will to Manifest the spirit of the Callahan's Place in this fiction.
It is my Will to build it a home.
